Employment counseling

97 percent of legal advice clients were satisfied with the service they received

Professionals of Business and Technology Union's employment law advice is free for all members. Therefore, you get the help of a legal professional for your work-related questions at the price of your membership!

"I didn't get a simple yes or no answer to my short question, but I was clearly told what to pay attention to now and in the future. The answer was of concrete benefit – it saved me a lot of money!"

The union's employment lawyers advise members on matters related to, for example

  • employment and civil service relationships, collective agreements, change negotiations, and equality and non-discrimination issues
  • labor lawyers will investigate your case, write letters, negotiate, and help, if necessary, to bring the case to court

Please note that immediate help can often be found at work by turning to the local union representative. It is also possible to turn to the occupational safety and health representative in occupational safety and health matters.

DO YOU NEED LEGAL HELP? DO THIS!

Before contacting our employment lawyers, carefully think through the legal questions you are hoping to get an answer to. It is a good idea to include the following background information in your first contact by email or through the digital lawyer, for example:

  • The name of the employer
  • A description of the problem
  • Information about the employment relationship (permanent/temporary, duration, etc.)
  • A copy of the employment contract

Information about the applicable collective agreement, if the matter relates to the terms of employment

Typically, we can respond to questions within 1-2 business days, but during busy periods, such as just before holidays, it may take a little longer to respond. Please contact us well in advance so that we can help you in your situation in the best possible way.

After your contact, our labor lawyer will review the material related to the matter and request additional clarification if necessary. If necessary, additional clarification will also be requested from the employer. However, the union's lawyers will never contact the employer without the member's prior consent. When the background information is sufficient, we will provide you with a legal assessment of whether the employer, for example, has violated the Employment Contract Act in the matter.

Most legal matters are resolved through consultation and negotiation through the union's labor counseling. As a last resort, the matter can be taken to court. At this stage, we offer our members a unique legal benefit.

The use of legal protection requires a support decision from the Professionals of Business and Technology legal unit. If a member has given an assignment to an attorney without first contacting labor counseling, legal protection may be denied. The person handling the member's case must be a labor lawyer specializing in labor law approved by the Professionals of Business and Technology TRAL ry.

Membership fees do not include unlimited counseling services, but Professionals of Business and Technology always considers on a case-by-case basis what and how extensive investigations or actions are appropriate in the matter.
