Why do men make more money than women?
The wage gap between men and women cannot be fully explained. In part, the difference in salaries is due to differences in job placement, as a larger proportion of male respondents work in management or supervisory positions. About 17% of men work in supervisory positions, compared to 14% of women. About 86% of men work in professional or management positions, compared to 75% of women.
Men also have a higher share of jobs in some industries and occupations that are generally higher-paying, such as information technology services, ICT, and sales. Women, on the other hand, have a higher share of jobs in accounting firms, other financial management positions, and administrative assistant positions.
