Full membership and Gold and Black level student memberships include leisure time travel and accident insurance. Members also get significant discounts on other insurance policies.

The insurance policies included in the membership of the Professionals of Business and Technology can’t be terminated separately; they start and end at the same time as the membership. If you have other similar insurance policies, it’s advisable to find out if these insurance policies are necessary and to terminate overlapping insurance policies. The insurance policies included in the membership of the Professionals of Business and Technology are very comprehensive, which means there is usually no need for other similar insurances.

The travel insurance covers medical expenses incurred by a travel-time illness or travel-time accidents without a euro-denominated cap and a deductible. In addition, the insurance covers repatriation in cases of illness and death, approved by If, as well as additional expenses caused by cancellation or interruption of travel and a missed departure.

Medical expenses due to illness are covered for a maximum of 90 days from the start of the treatment, and medical expenses due to accidents are covered for a maximum of three years from the occurrence of the accident. The insurance is in effect for a maximum of 45 days from the start of each leisure time trip. The Professionals of Business and Technology can’t take a stand on the insurance terms and conditions, such as the validity of the insurance in individual cases or the limitations of the validity of the insurance, to the extent that the matter is not precisely defined in the valid insurance terms and conditions. The leisure time travel and accident insurance is valid both in Finland and abroad, regardless of the country visited.

The validity of the insurance while travelling is not dependent on the insurance certificate; the insurance is valid automatically on the basis of membership. You can find instructions on how to claim compensation under the section What should I do if I fall ill or have an accident while travelling?

When applying for a visa, you usually need a separate certificate of the validity of the travel insurance. The insurance certificate cannot be issued by the office of the Professionals of Business and Technology; it must be requested directly from the customer service of If Vahinkovakuutusyhtiö.

Members of the Professionals of Business and Technology are covered by the insurance policies of If Vahinkovakuutusyhtiö. In the event of an illness or accident, you can visit the insurance company’s contracted clinic at the destination, where the costs can be invoiced directly from the insurance company based on the insurance information on the membership card.

You can check here whether there’s a contracted clinic at your destination. If there is no contracted clinic at the destination or you don’t have a membership card/insurance certificate with you while travelling, you must pay for the medical expenses yourself on site and claim compensation from the insurance company afterwards. As a rule, If’s compensation service works very quickly, so if you pay for the expenses with a credit card, you will probably receive the insurance compensation before the invoice is due. On domestic trips, the expenses are always paid first and the compensation is applied for afterwards.

You can claim compensation through If’s own website at if.fi/omatsivut. You can also download the If Mobiili app, where you can conveniently report damages, check your insurance policies or update them.

Expenses or receipts do not need to be attached to the claim; If will request them if necessary. However, the related documents (including medical certificates and receipts for expenses) must be retained until the claim decision is received. If’s compensation service works very quickly and you can usually receive the compensation decision within a few days.

Children under 20 years of age travelling with their parents and grandchildren under 20 years of age travelling with grandparents are included in the insurance.

If both parents or grandparents are members of the Professionals of Business and Technology, you can only claim compensation for expenses due to a child’s illnesses or accidents from the insurance of one of the parents. If the child travels alone or accompanied by a parent who is not a member of the Professionals of Business and Technology, the insurance is not valid.

Several sports are excluded from the scope of validity of the insurance policies in the personal insurance terms and conditions defined by If Vahinkovakuutusyhtiö for the membership insurance policies of the Professionals of Business and Technology.
