What is the role of the assembly of delegates?

The assembly of delegates decides what services and benefits the Professionals of Business and Technology offers, sets membership fees, determines key advocacy issues, and elects the union's Board of Directors and chairpersons.

How many representatives are elected to the assembly?

A total of 35 representatives are elected: full members elect 30 representatives using proportional representation via voters' associations, while student members elect 5 representatives using single-member elections. Deputy representatives are also elected.

Who is eligible to vote and run as a candidate?

You must have joined the union by 31 August 2026 and paid all membership fees for previous calendar years. Additionally, candidates must be proficient in Finnish, as all assembly meetings and documentation are in Finnish. Retired and student members cannot run in the full member elections, and full or retired members cannot run in student elections.

What is the timeline for the 2026 elections?

The nomination of candidates and establishment of voters' associations begins on 9 September 2026. Candidate nomination closes on 28 September at 11:59 p.m. The voting period runs from 12 November at 9:00 a.m. to 25 November at 11:59 p.m., and election results are confirmed on 26 November 2026.

Who oversees the elections and how can I ask questions?

Questions can be sent by email to vaalit@tradenomi.fi. The election process is overseen by an election board chaired by Jenna Hämäläinen, with Director of Legal Affairs Mia Weckman serving as secretary.

Who decides what kind of services and benefits the Professionals of Business and Technology offers? Who decides the membership fee? Who decides what issues are pursued on behalf of the members? Well, the assembly of delegates decides on all of these.

Please note that materials and meetings for the assembly of delegates are in Finnish. Therefore, proficiency in Finnish is required if you are considering running for candidacy.

A new assembly of delegates will be elected for the Professionals of Business and Technology in autumn 2026

The three-year term of our assembly of delegates will end at the end of 2026. The new assembly of delegates will be elected in the elections of autumn 2026, and its term will begin on 1 January 2027. The assembly of delegates will elect a chairperson and a vice chairperson from among themselves and a new Board of Directors for the union at its organisational meeting in early 2027.

What does working in the assembly of delegates mean and why is it worth your time?

As a delegate, you can learn more about our operations, working life phenomena, negotiation activities and issues related to the university of applied sciences sector and education.
You get to influence our policies and goals, the services we offer, and membership fees. You also get to elect the union’s board of directors.
At the same time, you can form new networks and gain experience in union activities and the field of employee organisations.
The delegates receive a comprehensive orientation, and there are generally two meetings per year. Additional meetings are organised as needed.

Schedule of the 2026 assembly of delegates elections

1 September the election board prepares an electoral register of members entitled to vote

2–9 September the electoral register is available at the union’s office

9 September at 9 a.m. the nomination of candidates for the elections (incl. the establishment of voters’ associations) begins

16 September complaints regarding the electoral register must be submitted by this date

17 September the election board approves the electoral register

18 September voting instructions for members

23 September the establishment of voters’ associations and rings ends

28 September at 11.59 p.m. the nomination of candidates ends

30 September candidate numbers are drawn

6 October at 4 p.m. candidates must submit their information for the candidate selection engine and the Tradenomi magazine by this time

12 November 2026 at 9 a.m. – 25 November 2026 at 11.59 p.m. the voting period

After the voting period ends on 26 November, the election board confirms the election result, after which the result is published.

5-7 February 2027: the organisational meeting of the assembly of delegates
